Just to add one more data point; In the last one month the following courses have failed to export:
136M MITx+7.00x+2013_SOND
167M MITx+3.091x_2+1T2014
440M BerkeleyX+CS-184.1x+2013_October
492M CornellX/Astro2290x/1T2014
710M PekingX+02030330X+3T2013
1.2G VJx+VJx+3T2014
It is generally because of the static files but there is still variation among courses. For example:
1. MITx.6.041x.1T2014 has 3226 total files of 261MB. Of which there are 1458 static files of 253MB.
2. PekingX.02030330X.3T2013 has 1326 total files of 734MB. Of which there are only 310 static files of 730MB.
So yes, in terms of size static files do dominate but import/export speed will also be effected by the total number of files and non-static files count may be very high too.
Hey all, we're all aware that import/export could use some love in 2015, in particular around these performance/size related issues. I know has an item for it on the 2015 Platform/Non-Functionals initiative plan, and I'll send her a summary of some of the issues we ran into last week with course import and these issues we're experiencing this week as further information to inform future work.
Is this because of assets?
