1. Release Blockers

• Forums V2:

  • Deployment issues discovered with MongoDB index creation on edx.org.

  • Unclear if the issue is infrastructure-specific or a general problem with the forums service.

  • Staging environment did not exhibit the issue, but production did.

  • Dave Ormsbee requested a one-day delay for further debugging.

  • Team agreed to postpone tagging to allow time for investigation and potential fixes.

• Zooming Tool:

  • The script used for the zooming tool in HTML blocks remains broken and outdated.

  • Attempts to fix it have only partially resolved the issue, and the underlying script is unreliable.

  • Consensus reached to remove the feature entirely from master and Sumac branches.

  • Future suggestion: Create a dedicated XBlock or host the script under Open edX’s control for improved maintainability.

• Release Notes:

  • Chris Patti and Maria Grimaldi developed a reliable method to generate new toggles and settings for the release notes.

  • Final updates to the draft PR are underway, and it is expected to be ready for wider feedback soon.

• Course Creation Bug:

  • A bug affecting course creator permissions was fixed and merged into the Sumac branch.

  • Maria requested deployment of the update in the sandbox to confirm the fix. Syed Muhammad Dawoud Sheraz Ali agreed to redeploy.

2. Testing Process

• Team focused on continuing to fix known issues during the additional time before tagging.

3. New Features Testing

• No new concerns reported regarding feature testing.

4. Release Management

• Tagging postponed by at least one day due to the forums issue and ongoing bug fixes.

• Updates on the final tagging decision to be shared in the BTR Slack channel.

5. Debugging

• Team emphasized using the extra time to address high-priority bugs and complete testing on fixes already merged into Sumac.

Next Steps

• Monitor progress on forums debugging and reconvene for tagging once the issue is resolved.

• Adolfo to document the decision and details about the zooming tool removal, including future recommendations.

• Continue testing and resolving additional issues as identified.
