The Core Contributor Onboarding Course is a community course and should be better monitored and maintained by non-Axim CCs.

Solution

  • Sarina is to meet with people to update the course itself, by granting grant access to the course itself on the training site to those with the Course Administrator role (https://openedx.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/COMM/pages/2759460357/Core+Contributor+Role+Definitions#Course-Administrators ).

    • CC editors should also have access to the in-course surveys, and respond to their feedback.

  • We have another course, Intro to the Open edX Project & Contributing. It is worth linking to it rather than rewriting content. It is worth leveraging this course to present any material relevant to aspiring CCs and scope the Intro to CC course to simply the administrative steps and helpful reminders about becoming a CC.

  • Legal content can’t be messed with.

  • Course code will be added to an open Github repository

  • All coding CCs will be made core contributors on the course repository

Impact

By empowering the CC community to edit and remix the CC course content, we can have a dynamic, more up-to-date course covering the evolving needs of the CC program, geared towards the non-Axim needs of new Core Contributors.
