🗒️ Meeting notes
All UX/UI meetings will be recorded from now on
Content Libraries V2 is still in the Discovery phase. The launch of edX’s Libraries V2 in the next few weeks should help to guide some of the decisions for Content Libraries V2. It’s likely that the Reference Block in Libraries V2 will need some UX/UI input, as it has been largely developer-driven thus far
María de los Ángeles Aguilar will start work on the designs for the LTI MVP in the coming sprint. We will be focusing on 6 key feature enhancements to make the author flows smoother
EduNext will conduct in-depth usability testing on the proposed approach for the LTI MVP. We are hoping to use this project as a pilot to help us develop a standard process for conducting usability tests in the future
Patrick Kenny gave a demo of the Files and Uploads page (now simply called Files). It has been released on edX. It might be included in the Quince community release. If not, it will form part of the following release (Redwood). Each asset has an “info panel” displaying metadata and location. There are still a few UX/UI details that need to be implemented:
Allowing users to upload by dragging-and-dropping
Placing the checkbox next to each file onto the card rather than next to it (Brian Smith will investigate what this entails from an implementation standpoint)
A “select all” checkbox will be added to the top left
Various styling tweaks like margin width, pagination etc
The Videos page follows the same structure as Files, and will go into beta soon. Eventually, Files and Videos will be combined into one page. Each video’s info panel includes the option to download a transcription of the video in various languages (if available)
2U is busy working on the new Course Team page. The goal is to give more visibility on which roles have which permissions
The Copy Paste project will follow a phased release; the first release will be for copying and pasting from the Course Outline. The second release will include copying and pasting on the Unit page
Studio Home will also be released in phases. The first release will include search and filtering. Additional features will be split over subsequent releases
Product proposals will be evaluated during the Core Product Working Group meeting. Only proposals with a significant amount of UX/UI will be evaluated during the UX/UI Working Group Meeting. These proposals can be added to the UX/UI Project List
Side note: Anyone is welcome to add themselves as a reviewer on a proposal
The new Studio look-and-feel will probably be included in the Redwood release
María de los Ángeles Aguilar presented a Google Form that she and Asma Ahmed created for recruiting test users. The form allows users to select the language(s) they are most comfortable in, and gives users the choice to join the #openedx_beta_testers Slack Channel or not
The formatting of the List of UX/UI Projects needs to be reassessed to accommodate the inevitable addition of more projects / proposals over time
