  • some team-members have left, new are taking over the roles.
  • is this a spike? yes it is (August is a nice month for this), but rest assured everything is still on track, the strategy remains the same, etc, etc.
  • the message from Madrid's conference (providers could use more help from edx.org) was heard and point taken. this is now to some extent a priority (see below)

Open edX Marketing sitePatrick Cavallario (Deactivated)
  • Update on New Open edX Site
    • position Open edX on the open source market in more systematic and lead-capturing way.
    • what are the benefits, key features, etc
    • help generate providers more sales
    • ETA for some initial release is end of October
    • open.edx.org to be the site (the old one will move to code.edx.org)
    • needs to be a collaborative effort in terms of content
  • Case Study Submission Process
    • we need to work out the best way to submit & present case-studies
    • structure (question)
      • category (academic/corporate/non-profits/online academy/(question))
      • what was the challenge?
      • how it was solved?
      • images/videos
  • Vendor Page
    • wiki page is no more the best way to help customers choosing a vendor
    • introduce some new way (question) referral program, filters, etc
    • vendors to be able to update the information about them
  • Create/use some slack channel for #marketing (or you can stop by in chat if you happen to be in Boston area (smile))
  • Events - some part of the site should be devoted to the events
  • Licensing of the content on the site? Will we be able to reuse it?

Round-table discussion
  • when/where will be the next conf?
    • not planned yet
  • what is the process to select talks for the conf?
    • it's a balance between tech/philosophy, old/new people, business/academic, etc. we're thinking on how to open up this selection process to the community
    • maybe we should have some talk-selection committee formed from edx'er as well as vendors as well as academics...
  • what other areas that edx.org can collaborate with the community on marketing apart from the site? some co-marketing? pr, storytelling? working with press?
    • not yet considered, but worth thinking about it
    • vendors should maybe gang-up to market Open edX to produce synergetic result. edx.org may work as a middle-man. but vendors shouldn't wait for it - push us, we will be pushed (smile)
    • this may be put on the Global Forum agenda
    • Open edX is not know as a platform of choice. in many cases customers don't know about Open edX at all
    • presenting on industry-leading conferences is an option. we can take our advantages as a non-profit to try promoting ourselves
