Working Group
The FedX working group is comprised of frontend stakeholders from across edX’s engineering and product teams. FedX holds weekly meetings Thursday mornings at 11am and public office hours in the cafeteria Thursday afternoons at 2pm. Anyone is welcome to join the group – speak with one of the members listed above if you'd like to be added to the meeting.
The goals of the group are as follows:
- Share our teams' FED challenges and triumphs
- Streamline the frontend development process
- Set, plan, and achieve long term architecture goals
- Define implementation best practices for use across the organization
- Stay up to date on evolving browser features, language specifications, and web standards
- Discuss and plan to evaluate emerging technologies
- Review and prioritize routine infrastructure work
- Plan frontend training and knowledge sharing initiatives
See the Meeting notes for each week's agenda and action items.
Operating Principles
FedX is a supportive, tight-knit group of people with varying skillsets, concentrations, and levels of frontend involvement. To sustain this community, we follow a loose set of operating principles:
- Work as a community
- Share knowledge
- Find common ground
- Welcome everyone
- Celebrate successes publicly
- Support without smothering
- Be kind
Further detail on FedX's operating principles is explained in the Why FedX Works presentation from the 2018-07-27 engineering all hands meeting.
