What is the Technical Oversight Committee (TOC)?

“The Technical Oversight Committee (“TOC”) is formed to help serve the purpose of the

Open edX project by governing the overall technical direction and stewardship of the

project.” (Charter)

The TOC is responsible for the overall direction of the project, and a place to take critical decisions for the project, both on technical and non-technical matters.

The TOC is not meant to be involved in all day-to-day technical decisions: those closest to the work will make the best decisions. Instead it focuses on situations where it can facilitate progress: decisions that are hard to reverse, or when the community is having difficulty reaching consensus.
