MySQL 5.7 – Community end of life planned until October, 2023
Although there are no immediate plans for move to MySQL 8.0, this page can be used to capture any known issues.
During the Django 3.2 upgrade, the ticket https://openedx.atlassian.net/browse/BOM-2867 was due to Github actions using MySQL 8.0 by default. Presumably, this will be a real problem when we do need to upgrade to MySQL 8.0. The Django issue https://code.djangoproject.com/ticket/33169#ticket was created at the time.
