Inactive item styles

@Sam Daitzman

  • @Sam Daitzman is working on a small proposal relating to inactive item style consistency / adding inactive styles to some components

  • Frontend dev questions:

    • Is there a standard approach to inactive component appearance in Paragon documentation somewhere? (I’ve looked through GitHub/docs, haven’t found this yet, but I may not be using the right queries…)

    • Are there non-documented inactive styles for any components that are unusual / worth looking into?

  • Kevin: inactive elements exempt from contrast requirements

    • Best practice is to leave out of tab order

  • Planned next steps

    • Share initial proposal documenting these cases

    • Add a ticket to Paragon repo for “Add documentation for existing disabled/inactive states” especially for core components including all this info

    • Table: List existing uses within MFEs

    • List out components that do / don’t have inactive/disabled styles set up

      • Include: use of opacity / specific color styles / other behavior changes for disabled states

    • [maybe] Look into underlying Bootstrap behavior responsible for inactive styles

UX/UI WG → Design Working Group

@Sam Daitzman

  • UX/UI WG is being renamed and restructured as Design WG based on member inputs! (Expect more of an announcement about this in the next day or so)

  • Checking in on how the new Design WG will relate to Paragon (especially w.r.t. active frontend / Paragon design-side improvements and more design participation in Paragon WG)
