The contributors' meetup is an online meeting, held every two weeks, for community members interested in contributing to the Open edX project. If you want to give back to the project, and see it grow, you have come to the right place.

@Kyle McCormick Nowadays yes, more or less.

The reasons for the name differences are largely historical - the “Contributor’s meetup” is basically the ancestor to all the workgroup meetings, from a time where the community rarely met outside of the conference, and we felt we needed to talk more than once per year. (we have made some good progress since then! ;p)

The participants to the early working groups came to that meeting to update each other - after a while it was too much to discuss for a single meeting, so working groups sprout out to separate meetings, and the Contributors Meetup was kept as a “scrum of scrum” type meeting.

Later on, to formalize the coordination activity that remained there, the “Coordination Working group” was formed, and just kept using the Contributors working group to meet. But the scope of that meeting remains a bit broader - it’s the place for contributors to come discuss general topics, when they don’t fit anywhere else.

@Xavier Antoviaque Cool, so it sounds like the Contributors Meetup has evolved into the Coordination WG – there aren’t two separate groups at this point. If that’s right, could you archive this page or nest it under Coordination WG, and have the Listaflow checkin updated to only list Coordination WG? If you have no objections, I can update the calendar invite to match the new name.

@Kyle McCormick Sounds good to me! My only remark would be to make it clear that the meeting remains one to discuss general community & contributors topics which don’t have a place elsewhere, and not just purely coordination - otherwise we would lose a space. I’m also looping in @Jorge Londoño on this as he is the working group chair.

I’ll move the page under the working group.

Of course! I’m just seeking consistency between the wiki, calendar, and forums. No strong opinions on what the meeting is called. Thanks Xavier.
