Communicating “busy weeks” from the edX side
@Kyle McCormick (Deactivated) will be more explicit about weeks that he does/doesn’t have a lot of bandwith to review and answer questions
Timeline
Overshooting Milestone 2 deadline by 1 sprint
Reason: Block editor modernization
blocked by TNL-7592
Braden’s idea: New XBlock view called “edit view”
Would only be used by the MFE
Would exist alongside “student view” and “author view”
author view doesn’t work in MFE when iframed in
would be ugly to kludge the author view support into the MFE
OC needs edX feedback on the “edit view” idea
OC is already moving forward on this idea, so timely feedback is needed from us
The general idea sounds good to @Dave Ormsbee (Deactivated) and @Kyle McCormick (Deactivated) .
@Former user (Deleted) will have his team ADR this
Milestone 3
Taxonomy will not within original BD-14 budget
OC has some extra hours in this milestone that they could use to start tacking Taxonomies
do we need a new xblock for randomizedcontent, or can we use the existing one?
that’s a paramount questions to answer
Marco: Allocate any remaining hours to iteration on UX, focus on feature parity. Not taxonomies for now.
@Former user (Deleted) Let us know what made it the case that Taxonomies won’t be ready for December. Will help us understand & adjust for future BD projects.
Even before parity, making an end-to-end functioning system is a priority.
@Former user (Deleted) can write an ADR on the inclusion mechanics in the source from library xblock.
Open edX roadmap workshop: deadline for opportunity brief proposals 9/30.
Blockstore would be excellent to discuss at this workshop
Braden would be able to speak to this. @Former user (Deleted) will poke him.
Both Content Libraries V2 and Taxonomies/Tagging are opportunities worth discussing.
LabXChange is a benchmark itself in terms of what we can use Blockstore for, how we can move in the direction of learner contexts
Surfacing wins from LabXChange would help us advocate for blockstore adoption on edx.org
