Status

• Kyle:

  • Blockers to 2U Tutor Adoption

    • Improve platform plugin dev.

      • Based on feedback, Zach asks should we use a plugin instead of current workflow, but likes suggestion from Kyle

      • There is a working solution, but it isn’t idea

    • Kyle is working on a PR to create plugin DO interface, which allows users to create other commands other than init for a plugin to accomplish. Consolidates setup into singular commands.

    • Kyle is also working to create a dynamic mfe base image to make them run smaller and faster

• Zach

  • Can use Tutor for day-to-day dev.

  • Adding new ida plugin wasn’t painful

    • “I want a new service” is a document for Tutor docs.

    • Kyle: It would be cool to get tutor plugin into openedx-cookiecutter repo so it is done in one fell swoop

  • What Would it take to put new ida on tutor in prod?

      • Early users are positive and documenting a lot.

      • We need to make a nice interface and make them refreshed more often.

  • Once Arch-bom finishes event bus, they will pivot to devenv adjacent stuff.

Has 2U done anything with docker “devstacks“ before? Could we borrow from that?

Raises priority and urgency of devenv work to hit our current status quo.
