  • We spent the whole time on this :)

  • Discovery! It’s the huge APP_USER_ID (~2.1 billion) that Becca has which is causing the image to be ~700GB.

    • a buffer overflow perhaps?

  • Open question: is it a macOS thing, or a 2U IT management software thing?

  • Open question: is the image actually coming out 700GB, or is Docker confused and just thinks it’s that big?

    • (regardless, it takes multiple minutes to export the image…)

  • Kyle has reproduced this Linux box by building with APP_USER_ID=2000000000, so it’s not specific to macOS or to OrbStack.
