Paragon updates

Meeting notes

  • Work has begun on the first draft of the wireframes for the HMX Custom Pathways project

  • Content Libraries v2 has been descoped to include only the new Library Reference Block, and the new Library Editing interface. There is currently a working version live on the OpenCraft sandbox. It might go up on edx.org in January too, but this is not certain. Axim will drive this project going forward, with the aim to get it into the Redwood release (with a few new additions which are still to be spec'd)

  • Course Team Page is in development

  • Hide Sections from Course Outline has gone through product approval, and usability testing. It is currently in development

  • Studio Home is in development

  • User interviews have started for LTI MVP

  • Tinymce Extra Plugins in Core is awaiting engineering review

  • Tim and Michelle are in the process of figuring out how to connect original product proposals to the subsequent PR's that come through

  • Files and Uploads will be included in Redwood

  • Copy & Paste at the component and unit level are live on Quince

  • Michael, Brian, and Gabe ran through what Paragon is and how it is used in the community

    • Paragon is the core design system used by edX, consisting of various components such as sorting functions and form elements

    • It controls responsive behavior in front-end applications

    • From an engineering perspective, it standardizes components across micro frontends for consistency and efficiency

    • Paragon is built on top of Bootstrap but has customized components that are optimized for accessibility

  • We discussed potential ways to bridge the gap between the UX/UI Working Group and the Paragon Working Group Meeting. This will be discussed in more detail in the next meeting

  • Content Libraries v2 might be a good project to start experimenting with how the interaction should work between the two working groups

  • We discussed the Paragon version inconsistencies across projects and applications, with some using outdated versions. There’s a gap between what's live on Master and what's available to the community

  • We ran out of time to discuss the user feedback for the Content Tagging project, so it was deferred to the next meeting

 Action items

  • @Ali Hugo to improve the UX of the List of UX/UI Projects page (standardized labels / statuses, filters, sort alphabetically)

  • @Jenna Makowski to follow up with Anna about the LTI MVP to help unblock EduNext
