2024-12-17 Focus Group Member Success and Revenue Growth

@Vineet Manuja @Eden Huthmacher @Esteban Etcheverry @Natalia Vynogradenko

Agenda

  1. Prepare OKR so that we can present them in the BD meeting

  2. Dive deeper into our ideas and start working on them

Brainstorm

  1. Plugins marketplace as a new revenue stream - partners want to participate in this initiatives as stakeholders. This can be a fundamental part of the Open edX platform. If someone builds a plugin and followed all the rules, this can be a magnet for new members.

  2. Improve prospect management - have a list of questions for initial meeting. Eden can initially engage with the lead together with the partner or separately to make sure that a prospect has a great experience and the requirements are met.

  3. What is the success of the members?

  4. We need to build a transparency for leads distribution/funded projects distribution - the community is asking for that. Write down the rules

  5. How to improve a trust between the community members? (the context - Sandbox)

  6. Distinguish contributors program

Action items

@Eden Huthmacher to double check who can communicate the leads of Sandbox (it’s confirmed that only AXIM has a right to contact these leads, not the vendor who is hosing the Sandbox).
@Eden Huthmacher is approving the budget for the Newsletter to send out to the Sandbox prospects
@Natalia Vynogradenko come up with the proposal of brand ambassadors program to involve influencers and have them to drive attention to Open edX. Maybe work together with Bohuslava from RG because she has similar idea about thoughts leadership involvement
@Esteban Etcheverry to provide information about the budget and main figures for involvement of Sal Khan
@Esteban Etcheverry suggest improvements on the prospect triage from the contact me form.
@Natalia Vynogradenko involve BD and Marketplace groups as stakeholders (to provide strategic and marketing input) for plugin marketplace (it’s probably is in the proposal ) [Community Proposal] Open edX Extensions Marketplace
@Natalia Vynogradenko what is the success for members? (individuals, vendors)
@Eden Huthmacher write down the criteria for the lead distribution process so that we have this as a reference
@Natalia Vynogradenko research how other communities work, who makes the development projects, who budgets this etc. The context: the board decided eventually to stop the funded projects so that community is sustainable on its own and we need to understand if this is how the other open source communities work.
@Vineet Manuja come up with idea for people to collaborate more
