Joining forces on notifications

  • What’s the best way to align efforts on mobile notifications, 2U’s notifications tray, and the proposal for web notifications?

  • We talked about the state of notifications on the platform and how notifications decisions are currently dispersed and at different stages for edX, edX mobile app, Open edX mobile app, and the Open edX platform

  • Product decisions and info-gathering around core platform notifications strategy is the first step to getting this work unblocked

  • From there, we need to make technical decisions around which service meets platform needs (the ace service or django application)

@Chelsea Rathbun - can take a stab at starting one place where we delineate concrete notifications requirements and start gathering state of the union information as to where the following applications are with regard to notifications (creating new and using existing notifications proposals and artifacts to inform this work): edX, edX mobile app, Open edX mobile app, and the Open edX platform (from there we can gather community input with regards to the proposed notifications strategy - it may make sense to workshop this problem similar to admin console)
