Leadership Responsibilities

Leadership Responsibilities

Educator chairs and co-chairs organize the monthly meetings and support overall community health.

Meeting Tasks

Before Meetings

  1. Create ZOOM registration link for the upcoming meeting and ensure that a meeting transcript will be generated.

  2. Share ZOOM registration link with Axim (e.g. Sarina) to be added to the WG Calendar

    1. You may batch many of these in advance. The more advance notice, the better.

  3. Send out 2 email reminders with a ZOOM registration link.

    1. One email 1-3 weeks before.

    2. One email the day before.

  4. Prepare updates to the educators gantt chart: Educators Working Group Roadmap

    1. Updates are significant progress, issues, decisions made for each major project. Requires communication with product teams. The Community Release Plan can help with tracking here.

During Meeting

  1. Begin the recording.

  2. Open the meeting.

  3. Communicate updates from the Educators Working Group Roadmap

  4. Introduce any speakers for the session, and help facilitate their session.

  5. Close the meeting.

Post Meeting

  1. Post the recording, notes, and transcript to this wiki.

    1. Call out action items with @ mentions to their assignee.

  2. Send an email notification that the recording has been posted.

Non-Meeting Tasks

  1. Regularly check and facilitate communication in our channels

    1. Slack

    2. Discuss Forum

  2. Determine meeting agendas

    1. Meetings typically focus on product updates and feedback from educators for projects that are being committed upstream to the core or supported extensions. In other words, to projects that a typical Open edX user won’t have to build or pay for separately.

  3. Perform any email list maintenance that might be required.
