Expectations for Maintainers

• Rate of communication

• How long before neglecting your duties should we reconsider your assignment?

Dependabot alerts in a lot of repos will not be tagging anyone in many repos that 2U is no longer maintainer of.

• This should be part of the audit to understand the level of health of different repos and where we need to engage maintainers more.

ADR for Frontend Repos

• docs: Add Frontend Dependency Freeze ADR by arbrandes · Pull Request #753 · openedx/open-edx-proposals

  • Be able to more easily target specific dependencies for a release.

  • We will send a notice to all maintainers.

  • Dependencies Include

    • Node Version

    • Paragon

    • React

    • etc. (Full list in ADR)

  • Will this include these dependencies in backend services that have frontends?

    • No, it’s more critical for MFEs which need to share more dependencies. This is to ease the transition to frontend-base.

Dropping Django 4.2

Usama will create a codemode to create PRs in all relevant repos and then we will tag maintainers to get them to review and merge the PRs.

Python 3.12 PR

• Almost ready to merge Python 3.12 support in edx-platform

• Release is moved to next week so we’ll try to land this as a backport to ulmo as well.
