Reuse: Tagged content is easier to find (assuming that one can search based on the tags), and it’s easier to find specifically what you want.

Fault Tolerance: Finding that thing you swear you just made yesterday and now where the heck is it.
Research: Tagging course content can allow researchers to connect content that’s intended to teach a particular topic with problems that are designed to assess that same content. This can help measure the efficacy of the instructional content.
