Canvas - Multiple Choice
The multiple choice question type for Canvas allows rich-text editing and media insertion for questions. Answer options are always text-based, with no formatting options being available. Per-answer feedback and overall feedback are optionally available. It appears only one answer can be considered correct, though varying points can be assigned to answers for partial correctness.
Answer shuffling is available, as is the ability to lock the position of answers, and to provide learners with an on-screen calculator for mathematical problems. All questions in Quizzes (which contain all problem-type elements in Canvas) can be aligned to learning outcomes specified on the course, and items can be added to question banks from within the question editor.
While media uploads are possible within multiple choice questions, they have notable limitations around video that make this suboptimal - only mp4 and m4v videos can be uploaded, and captions cannot be associated with those videos, rendering them fundamentally inaccessible. Players from other sites with these features can be embedded instead, from sites like Vimeo and Youtube.
