Antonella Perrupato - Aulasneo

Antonella Perrupato - Aulasneo

RBAC Interview: Antonella Perrupato

  • Date: Oct 7 2024

  • Organization: Aulasneo

  • Provides support to other organizations: Yes

  • Role in the organization: Course Designer

  • Organization Size: Small to Medium (serving a few organizations with different levels of autonomy)

Key Insights:

  • Main Pain Points:

    • "Profesor" Role (i18n Issue):
She mentioned that when she assigns the "Profesor" role, users are sometimes unable to perform certain tasks, such as editing course content. To resolve this, she often has to grant them staff permissions for full access.

This issue stems from the i18n of the "community TA" role into Spanish as "Profesor asistente de la comunidad." In the platform's RBAC system, "community TA" is a role with limited permissions, but administrators and users may confuse it with the "profesor" role in the organizational context.

  • Feature Requests:

    • Granular Permissions:
She expressed a desire for more granular control over permissions. She mentioned that while she couldn't specify a custom role, it would be useful to have more flexibility in assigning permissions to specific tasks within a course, without having to grant full access through the staff role.

  • Ease of Use:

    • The interviewee compared the current system to an older version of the platform, but this comparison is irrelevant to the current RBAC discussion.

    • She also mentioned issues with copying courses (e.g., prerequisites not being copied), which are not directly related to RBAC.

  • Support Needs:

    • The interviewee often resolves issues independently due to her technical experience, but she highlighted the need for clearer and better-organized documentation to streamline the troubleshooting process.
