VEM Handoff Meeting

Goal: Ensure that the incident management team has what they need to take over ownership of video-related repos as of Q2 2020.

Repos affected:

  • video-encode-manager: New video pipeline software that went into production in July 2020.

  • edx-val: Interface library in LMS/Studio for tracking video status.

  • All repos related to VEDA are being archived or deleted:

    • edx-video-pipeline

    • edx-video-worker

    • chunkey

    • v_videocompile

    • veda-secure

Partner support and PCs have access to this upon request. Login is via SSO using LMS credentials. Groups are defined for support and PCs to give them the access they need. Superuser should only be given to the dev team.

VEM is deployed in Kubernetes via argocd: https://argocd.tools.edx.org/applications/prod-video-encode-manager. SRE team controls access to this.

Things to do:

  • Route python requirements updates jobs to IM team.

  • Backlog items (nothing urgent)

  • Alerting…currently minimal, could be improved.

  •  

Actions:

  • AZ--Send 3play and cielo login info to IR team (and 3play contact info)

  • IR Team will talk to Bill D. about embedded SRE role
