Mentoring XBlock - Conversion to real children & unification of forks

Description

For the Harvard course GSE3x - "Data Wise". This is a preliminary task to cleanup technical debt (replacing the lightchildren workaround by real XBlock children, merging changes to only have one repository for mentoring), before adding additional features as a second step. The PR shows the difference between the version of mentoring currently on edx.org and the updated version: https://github.com/open-craft/xblock-mentoring/pull/4

This is also related to (which contains the new UI used by the XBlock in Studio, instead of XML edition which isn't supported for editing XBlock children in Studio) and (follow-up task for the upcoming work once this is merged, which will require arch council meeting).

This has been discussed by email with .

In terms of timeline, our goal was to have this change merged by the end of the month, although that is becoming pretty tight - the idea is to be able to focus on the upcoming changes next month (cf https://openedx.atlassian.net/browse/OSPR-401 for the part that will require arch council review, which will support additional features in the mentoring XBlock). The course team will need time to test/author the course content, so we'll need to have everything ready and merged by April 6th.

OpenCraft is providing one of the two reviewers - will be reviewing the PR.

Great, thank you for completing this now - it's perfect timing.

Braden is almost through the first/internal review on the additional features (the ones which originally needed the arch council review) - I've opened a ticket for this: OSPR-478. It should hopefully be a bit lighter to review than the large change from the current ticket : )

Our review on this is done! Next steps will be determined by Braden and Xavier.

Yeah, that's fine with me.

Thanks!

For OSPR-401, it might still be useful to submit the part related to asynchronous tasks in the review, as we'll have other tasks in the future depending on it - but it's definitely less urgent for us now. We can maybe close it for now, and reopen it once we have an updated proposition? what do you think?
