Identifying Trademarked Terms
- In For documents published in the US, the guidance is to include the appropriate ™, ℠, or ® symbol "on first use".
- For international publications, translators should determine whether an attribution page should be provided in addition to or in place of these symbols.
- Trademarks are adjectives, not nouns. Be sure to follow the trademarked term with the appropriate generic term on first use. For example, use "an iPhone® mobile device" rather than "iPhone®"; "on a Mac® computer" rather than "on a Mac®".
