• Soliciting technical feedback from the community (e.g., Open Craft).

• From early feedback:

  • While our current implementation enables runtime theming via CSS variables, it does not enable live theme updates driven by users.

    • The current approach would require a build step to generate CSS file(s) that would then need to be uploaded to a server and/or CDN before it could be applied to consuming applications.

    • A forward-thinking vision here might be to expose the design tokens tooling functionality (i.e., style-dictionary) as an API so applications can pass in custom design tokens and transform them alongside the core Paragon design tokens in a live, real time manner.

    • We are treating this vision as out-of-scope for the initial ADR and implementation. We may partner with Open Craft to iterate on a solution here once the initial release of design tokens is complete.
