Notes on Projects and Access

  • Based on their role, Core Contributors may be granted access to various Open edX systems, such as GitHub and Transifex.

  • Some access grants are overlapping or redundant. This is intentional: Core Contributors are expected to use their different rights in the proper contexts.

    • For example, Axim On-Call grants admin rights to all repositories. When not On-Call, though, those contributors should self-limit based on the other rights they’ve been granted.

  • All repositories listed here are in the openedx GitHub organization. There are five increasing levels of GitHub repository access:

    • read access is the ability to read the code.

      • For Open edX, everyone in the world has this.

    • triage access grants read access, plus the ability to assign, label, and close issues.

      • Triage access may be granted to any Core Contributor based on need.

    • write access grants triage access, plus the ability to push branches and merge pull requests.

      • Only Code Contributors and Release Managers are granted this level or higher.

      • Requires a CLA.

    • maintain access grants write access, plus ability to modify certain repository settings.

    • admin access grants maintain access, plus ability to modify all repository settings.
