2023 Conduct Committee 1st Meeting
Pre-reads
How We’re Making Code of Conduct Enforcement Real — and Scaling it. (Mozilla)
Jenkins project code of conduct - describes enforcement responsibilities and mechanisms
Hyperledger code of conduct - provides good definitions for various terms
Questions to think about
What goals should we have?
Keep members feeling safe
Keep a friendly community
Ensure ideas flow freely in the community
Make sure community members know about the code of conduct and know how to report a violation
Make sure community members believe the CoC is effectively and fairly enforced
What else?
What do we want our Code of Conduct to say?
How do we want people to report conduct violations?
How do we want to triage/discuss violations?
Who leads the discussion?
Who decides, if the discussion is split?
When do we give someone a warning?
When do we ban someone from the community? What does that mean? Is there an opportunity to return?
What information do we make available to the community when there’s a violation?
What are term boundaries for CoC Committee members?
I’d say 1 year, Jan - Jan
Technical conduct:
Scenario: A person is in an established Github team that has elevated permissions. This person abuses those permissions and causes an impact to users. How should this be handled… removal from group, individual permissions adjustment, etc?
