Transcript Editor
Transcript Editor · Issue #426 · openedx/platform-roadmap
Overview
This proposal is to add a UI element that supports in-platform editing of video transcripts.
Problem
Currently there is no way for course teams to edit transcripts directly. This is a problem when users, or course team members, identify errors in a transcript or translation of a transcript, but have no way to remedy the issue because there is no editing capability of existing transcripts and transcript translations. The actions today would be for the course team member to download the transcript locally, edit it locally, delete the old transcript, and then re-upload the new transcript file to the video.
Use Cases
As a course author, I need to be able to edit a video transcript because an issue with the original version that has been identified.
Proposed Solution
The proposed solution is to introduce a new editor in studio that will allow course teams to edit their video transcripts.
This would also include some smaller UI updates for easier navigation:
Implementation Plan + Long Term Ownership
The implementation will be resourced by 2U, specifically the Aurora team will be responsible for development of this feature. Long-term maintainership will remain with the maintainer of the frontend-app-authoring
repository.

Idea Dump
AI-translate feature where authors could kick off an individual translation that includes a guide to make effective source transcripts.
Re-Translate feature - If the models keep improving or we are allowed to update the ai-translation services we use it could be meaningful to include a way to re-translate poorly translated transcripts.
Include a way for the learners to flag poorly translated transcripts.
