Marketing Dialog

• Adam: How is this distinct from our Modal? Ange: This difference is visual. The current one have a title field and a sticky footer for action buttons that are more aligned for a modal with an action or confirmation. This is more interrupting.

  • Could this just be an action style option for Modal? Same modal just a configuration option? Ange: Yes we could do.

  • Ben W: If it’s still the same general modal properties, we should be able to make this as a toggle for the existing modal.

  • Ange: Scroll behavior could differ from the original modal.

  • Adam: I go back and forth whether this is a distinct component or not.

  • D Joy: No matter which way they will definitely share some code

  • Ben: Building them off the same base seems like it could work

  • Lael: I think that’s the best path forward

  • Djoy: should we go for a composable set of modal component.

  • Ben: Name is a little vague for me to know which is used for which.

  • Ange: I liked Marketing dialog to name for it because it’s something we’ll use for really targeted messages. Neutral on naming.

• Naming:

  • What if it’s called Marketing Modal, Confirmation Modal, and simply Modal.

  • This Marketing modal vs. confirm modal

• Blocking Modal vs alert modal.

Create a netlify build for Paragon using the @edx/brand theme, even though the theme still has some remaining updates? where:

• http://edx.github.io/paragon remains using openedx theme.

• https://paragon-edx.netlify.app/ remains using the current Paragon edx theme.

• https://paragon-edx-brand.netlify.app/ uses the new edX brand theme.

Discussion: How to prioritize Paragon bugs

How should we prioritize bugs in Paragon? Thinking back to the a11y issue with the pass-through Dropdown from react-bootstrap where focus is not put onto first item automagically and the dropdown closes when an item is selected (which is different than the original dropdown, which would persist open while making selections).
