Description
The Translation Working Group was created on August 18th, 2021 as a spin off from the existing Open edX Marketing Working Group. The Translation Working Group is open to all members of the community and currently consists of Open edX community members, who are assisting in centralizing our collaboration efforts on crowdsourced translations and reviews of translated content, in an effort to further enhance our platform & website localization strategy. A successfully executed crowdsourced translation strategy, guided by the Translation Working Group, will not only aid in producing higher quality translated content, but will also lead to additional intrinsic values, such as allowing the community to help produce a more robust global product, while functioning as curators for new content, 100% completion on strings translated for all Open edX software releases, a successfully and accurately translated website, and translated user documentation to aid in the increased global adoption of the Open edX platform. To learn how you can contribute as a translator or reviewer, please review the relevant documentation here.

Goals of the Translation Working Group`
Begin localization strategy with 10 languages
Host bi-weekly meetings for the Transifex Working Group
Allocate up to 2 Transifex translation reviewers per language (language reviewer inquiries must be sent, using the following instructions)
Translate strings 100% for official languages of each Open edX release
Translation reviewers will function as project managers for their assigned languages and will identify superior translations by the community and invite superior performers to engage in critical/high priority translation projects to ensure that high-value content is being translated
Identify areas of opportunities and recommend solutions on how to further enhance the Open edX localization strategy, including setting up and configuring projects
Adapt and correct the translations for branding, messaging, and tone consistencies
Provide feedback to edX Engineering on strings that are edX-specific and/or are not contextualized enough
