Learner Profiles

Feature Description

Learner Profiles serve to capture and relay important information about learners to both members of staff and fellow learners. They offer several key benefits depending on the available functionality, which typically varies based on the social capabilities of the platform:

  • Learner demographic research (Where are learners located? what is the typical learner persona?)

  • Learner completion audits (Which courses has a learner completed? Have they completed certain mandatory training?)

  • Learner engagement tracking (When was the learner last active? Are they completing their allotted tasks?)

  • Instructor and learner social engagement (What is this learner’s goal? What are they interested in?)

  • “Bragging” pages & resumes (What certificates has the learner earned? What achievements have they accomplished? What is this learner’s reputation within the community?)

  • Content recommendation & personalization (Based on the learner’s profile, what learning content should they engage with next? What is most likely to engage and interest them as a learner?)

Learner profiles are a step removed from account information, in that account information is typically functional and mandatory, while profile data is typically user-submitted, subjective, and optional in nature.
