  • Scoping Milestone 2.5 (aka the milestone formerly known as M3)

    • Kyle’s understanding: Iteration and refinement of library authoring+usage flow. Objective is a Waffle-flagged release to production, giving beta access to a handful of partners.

      • Marco: Difference between “everyone can use it” and small list of users via waffle flag might be relatively small, given who uses content libraries today.

    • Notes on specific tasks

      • Click on a person’s avatar to follow their navigation.

      • Figma is where the designs are made and they’re sync’d over. Will be using that tool later as we get to high fidelity stuff.

      • Purple + Comic Sans == low fidelity, do not style this way

    • Flow:

      1. Logs in to Studio

      2. Create a new course

      3. Created a New Section for a course

      4. Chose to add content from existing library

        • “View libraries button” vs. “Add New Component” (right now it’s just an advanced block, should not require this in the future)

          • Details here–depends on whether new libraries are even enabled on the platform.

      5. View a full page dialog for adding content from libraries → flush edge-to-edge

        • This is a new pattern, used for step-by-step wizard style

        • Understanding the average number of libraries people are selecting from.

          • Most may only have a few libraries.

          • Dave: Future use of tags should also help reduce the number of libraries needed.

          • How to we do this full UI technically – iframe? Concern about wedging React.

            • Could we do a different URL entirely and redirect afterwards?

      6. Next step is after library selection is a component selection

        1. Open question on whether this step is a table of component preview listing

        2. What information will educators need to quickly select something?

      7. After component selection is preview step

        1. Plan to remove “edit name” step from the mocks

        2. The overriding of settings is an open challenge / issue here for blocks pulled in from libraries.

      8. Unit page preview

        1. wrapper xblock pattern has some changes proposed to show blocks directly on the page.

      9. Component editing pattern styling updates

        1. will keep out of BD-14 and have as general T&L task

      10. Main Library Editing view

        • Search is broken - this needs addressing

        • Potential for table shift vs list item objects (similar to the library source block)

        • Allow public learning / Allow public read

  • Primary concerns currently:

    • How to achieve the full page xblock editing interface

      • Unit preview mode for library source block is an additional challenge

      • Unit editing state/case for library source block is mostly the question here

    • How to achieve the video / capa editors in new library MFE

      • or will we need to rewrite them.

    • Development size of Library source block workflow

    • Technical discovery on how we source library content (and how it impacts import / export)

    • Development size of randomized content block backed by blockstore

  • Community interest in completion and extension of content libraries ( @Former user (Deleted) )
