Focus Groups - Overview

Overview of Biz Dev Focus Groups

The Biz Dev Working Group has launched a set of Focus Groups designed to drive specific initiatives aligned with our mission to grow and enhance Open edX. These groups allow community members to focus on targeted areas critical to the platform's success and evolution.

Purpose of Focus Groups

Each Focus Group addresses a core aspect of Open edX's growth strategy:

Signing Up Process

To sign up for a Focus Group of your interest:

  1. Please message, @Stefania Trabucchi , @Vineet Manuja , or send a message on the Slack Channel.

  2. Let us know which group you are interested in.

  3. You are ready to participate!

Operating Model

Each Focus Group operates independently but is aligned with the overall objectives of the Biz Dev Working Group. The operating model is as follows:

  • Community-Led: Focus groups are led by community members, with roles distributed among participants. To enhance coordination and advancement, we recommend having both a primary and a secondary facilitator (even on a rotating basis).

  • Collaborative: Each group will collaborate with other Open edX Working Groups, specifically the Core Product and Marketing teams, to synchronize goals and activities.

  • Autonomy in Setting Goals: Focus Groups are encouraged to establish their objectives and key results (OKRs) by considering community feedback and input. Each Focus Group Confluence page already includes a suggested set of goals to guide this process.

Responsibilities of Each Focus Group

Each Focus Group is entrusted with specific responsibilities, which include:

  • Identifying Key Objectives: Defining clear goals aligned with the group's scope and community needs.

  • Driving Initiatives: Developing and executing strategies to achieve their objectives.

  • Regular Updates: Maintaining clear and current documentation and providing consistent updates to the Biz Dev Working Group and the broader community.

  • Collaboration: Actively engaging with other Open edX teams to ensure alignment with overarching goals.
