v1.7 - Discussion Sidebar Demo

• Working sidebar

• Management command for converting course to new support model.

• Discussion Topic API work

• Existing Discussion blocks for v1.7 rollout

  • [for v1.6] Option 1: show new MFE inside the current discussion block

  • Option 2: hide discussion block, shift to the sidebar.

  • Option 3: keep using existing UI for in-context discussion (MFE for main discussion app)

• Existing Waffle Flags:

  • First Flag: enables Discussion App

  • Second Flag: enables new UI in-context

• (v1.7 has new system for in-context discussion)

• New / Existing Courses

  • New: Use new automatic topic mapping only

  • Existing → New: Migration option to new topic mapping still TBD (management commany exists)

    • will need to switch to using new provider in this case whenever courses ‘switch’ / upgrade to the new topic configuration mode.

  • Existing: use legacy topic mapping
