Respond to the prompts for the Conference Working Group Colloquium

• All working groups have been given a set of prompts to respond to. I’ve created a Miro board where we can add potential responses on sticky notes. The entry pass is “data”.

Learner View Deprecation in the face of very limited users

Trying to deprecate and remove learner view, we’ve turned up a very small number of users (maybe one) who use it.

• OpenCraft has a customer that relies on this, but they are not here to discuss

• The feature is threaded through multiple repos, so converting it to something like a plugin isn’t tractable.

• It could be maintained by another team, though it would be a little tricky, but possible to maintain

• 2U will soon be turning off the EMR pipeline entirely – very soon. Currently working on video and problem and answer. Expectation is that they will turn it off completely by the end of April.

• What is the alternative for using EMR?

  • The 2U alternative is proprietary and based on a snowflake data warehouse

    • Stitch

    • Prefect - workflow orchestrator

    • DBT

    • Snowflake

• [Andres] What should the community edition of the analytics pipeline be? What we should provide? Which pieces should we provide? The warehouse? The queries? Perhaps it is up to the end user to build the analytics systems that meets their needs.

• [Ed] Discussion about the current landscape of data tooling and a possible future blueprint for Open edX data.
