Meeting notes
Jon gave a thorough run-through of the latest version of the Studio Home Figma file. A few discussion points:
The value of keeping the filter and sort functions separate to allow for easier searching of courses
Whether or not to include course end dates in the course list
The type of search terms that are accounted for in the free-form search
Santiago conducted a mini usability test on the wireframe for Content Tagging MVP (test user: Cassie, prototype creator: María). A few items that came up:
The drawer in which the user selects tags might be too narrow / too removed from the body of the page
The user’s instinct was to type to filter the list of available tags
To investigate: perhaps the list of selected tags should go below the select menu
User mentioned it was not clear how to access the list of courses (i.e. Studio Home) from inside a specific course
User had trouble finding where to perform a search on the Course Outline. The magnifying glass icon seems to get lost on in the page
(Side note: Ali noticed that the search functionality was missing from the Unit page and added it to the wireframe file)
User was disorientated when performing a search on the Course Outline page, selecting a search result, and then being directed to a component on the Unit page; they felt they did not know where they were
We might need to consider adding some sort of product tour / instructions to guide users through using the new features. Ideally, the UX would be clear enough that this would not be necessary. TBD
Action items
@Santiago Suarez to tweak the usability test slightly to remove the step requiring the test user to create a new course
@Santiago Suarez to perform additional usability tests with a handful of users and share the results with the group
@Ali Hugo to adjust the wireframes based on feedback from the usability tests
