  • Experimenting with weekly meetings, alternating Monday/Thursday! Testing it out at 9:00 AM EST on January 27 and February 10.

1. Updates on Open edX Theme Integration

  • Discussion on feasibility and effort required to transition to the Open edX theme.

  • Challenges with implementing design tokens due to Figma's lack of support for certain CSS calculations.

  • Differences between CSS and SCSS variables were clarified.

  • The Paragon design system update will require significant effort over time.

2. Project Tracking & Documentation Format

  • Ongoing concerns regarding document accessibility in table format.

  • Discussion on whether to revert to a document-based format for broader accessibility.

  • Some access issues may have been resolved, but the group will monitor and adjust as needed.

3. Adding Projects to the Tracking Table

  • Question raised about when to add projects to the discovery phase.

  • Consensus: Even projects in proposal stages should be included to prevent duplication and allow for early feedback.

4. UX/UI Projects & Development Updates

  • Persistent Notifications: Nearing final review and completion.

  • Visually Configurable Content Blocks: Close to wrapping up.

  • Course Content View & Offline Downloads: Initial versions completed, potential follow-up improvements identified.

5. Notifications and Cross-Platform Integration

  • Discussion on aligning web, email, and mobile notifications across platforms.

  • Different teams working on separate notification systems; coordination needed for a unified approach.

  • Open question: Whether Open edX should adopt a newly developed notification framework or extend the existing one.

6. Working Group Meeting Schedule Experiment

  • Proposal to introduce bi-weekly meetings:

    • Monday (9:00 AM EST): Workshop-focused session

    • Thursday (10:00 AM EST): Regular updates & discussions

  • First Workshop (Jan 27, 2025): Focus on icons for the content library.

  • Attendance and effectiveness will be evaluated before finalizing the change.

7. Paragon Design System Updates

  • Main Focus Areas:

    1. Updating to Open edX theme

    2. Implementing design tokens (challenges noted in Figma)

    3. Supporting mobile-friendly components

  • Concerns raised about effort duplication if Open edX moves to Tutor Indigo as the default theme.

  • A proposal exists to make Tutor Indigo the default; waiting for confirmation before proceeding with full-scale updates.

8. UX Reviews & Sandbox Testing

  • Proposal: Conduct hands-on UX reviews by logging into the sandbox and documenting issues.

  • Noted inconsistencies in user experience across different sandboxes.

  • A future UX audit workshop may be scheduled.

9. Conference & Workshop Planning

  • A Product UX Workshop proposal has been accepted for an upcoming conference.

  • The working group will assist in brainstorming, planning, and execution.

  • Workshop outline will be shared for feedback.

10. Administrative Updates

  • Discussion on who has permissions to edit recurring calendar invites.

  • Action taken to escalate the issue for resolution.
