Meeting notes
1. General Check-In & Introductions
Some participants experienced technical issues due to Google Meet reusing the same meeting ID.
A new participant, Drew Botka, introduced himself as a Lead Product Designer at 2U.
Brief discussions about past work experiences and conference participation.
2. UX/UI Project Updates
In-Context Aspects in Studio is progressing quickly and moving from the discovery phase to the UX phase.
Studio Notifications are still in the discovery phase, awaiting further design work.
Mobile & Web Persistent Notifications are completed from a design perspective and are pending development resources.
Visually Configurable Content Blocks are paused due to the lack of an engineering architect at Axim.
Course Content View & Visual Course Progress have completed design work and are awaiting developers.
Library Section, Subsection, and Unit Support has moved into development.
Content Libraries Relaunch is ongoing, with UX improvements under active development.
3. Challenges in Mobile-Responsive Design Resources
There is a lack of up-to-date Figma files for responsive mobile layouts.
Designers currently rely on sandbox testing and recreating components.
Some studio files with mobile views exist but are scattered and outdated.
Discussion on the need for a central repository or version-controlled design system to maintain design consistency.
4. Standardizing Platform Icons
A workshop is being conducted to standardize icons across the platform.
Issue: Multiple icons are used inconsistently for the same feature across Studio, LMS, and Paragon.
Plan:
Identify icon sets that should work together (e.g., section, subsection, unit).
Determine if existing Paragon icons can be used or if new icons need to be proposed.
Refine selection through a structured process rather than open voting.
Proposal: Instead of a democratic voting approach, designers will propose an icon set and then collect feedback to ensure consistency.
Next Steps:
Finalize easy icon selections.
Open a discussion on tricky icons (e.g., advanced components, section/subsection/unit).
Create a Figma file to visualize proposed icons in context.
Consider user testing for critical icons that may impact user experience.
5. Potential User Testing & Research Initiatives
Interest in conducting more observational user research and feedback collection.
Ongoing efforts to build a user panel for continuous feedback.
Suggestion: Standardized tracking of design impact through analytics and A/B testing.
